In the solo Zilver (Silver), dancer Roisin Verheul sets out on a path in the presence of the monumental sculptures by Igor Mitoraj. Isolation, vulnerability and fragmentation of body parts are central. Zilver is a dance performance in which the body rubs, flexes and transforms in order to eventually submit to the process of healing.

Zilver is a new work by the Neel Verdoorn Dance Projects foundation in collaboration with the Beelden aan Zee museum. The images of Igor Mitoraj in the exhibition Igor Mitoraj – Façade are the source of inspiration for this new choreography. The sculptures are inspired by mythical images from classical antiquity and show variations of fragmented body parts. It gives a clear reference to the crumbling, the loss of the human figure, but it also expresses an overwhelming power. The images are mystical, carry a secret and show both the vulnerability and the resilience of the human body. The title Zilver is inspired by the metal, which was traditionally often associated with the moon, the sea and the gods.
